My new 55 gallon passed the leak test and I overlooked one part of this setup when I was impatiently rushing about to live my fish into a bigger aquarium. I took for granted that my stand was a 75 gallon and my new tank was a 55. I figured it'll support the weight just fine but I didn't think about the surface the tank wouldn't span across on the top. Now that I have all my fish, sand, decor, pumps etc all hooked up I realize there is a slight bow in the middle of the stand's top where I had a 36 gallon sitting for about 5 months.

I'm reading a lot of bad things that could come of this and UK also reading that just the 4 corners need the support and not the whole tank. Do I have to tear down the tank and put a piece of board or foam between the 2 or can I wedge something or will it be fine.? Grrrr... I hate myself and I'm sure my severum will too if I have to make him sit around in a bucket again.

Yeah the anxiety of the worst case scenario. The tank is upstairs too. Ughh.. Have you used the foam technique? Do I set the edges of the tank on foam or the whole bottom. Someone said they popped the bottom frame doing that.

I have not used it personally but what I've seen is it should be as big as the whole stand.

Is the tank glass or acrylic? is it supported even on the corners?

Foam will do absoulty do nothing to remedy your sitsuation. The only uses foam has is to protect non framedglass bottom tanks from pressure points. It will not protect any type built tanks from warped, bowed or twists in the stand. Nor will it aid in leveling a tank.
