Hey so I have a 350 setp up and running and is partially stocked and there are some fishies I want to add but I'm not sure about compatability. I am also looking for potential problems with current stock as well as possible and I would love any advice or reccomendations with fish.

So currently in my tank is:
1x 3" Tiger Oscar
1x 3" Green Terror
3x 2" Convicts (Female)
1x 3" Pink con (Female)
1x 2.5" Fire Mouth
1x 2" Jack Dempsy
1x 2" Jewel
1x 1.5"-2" Ice Blue Kenyii
1x 1.5"-2" Bumble Bee Zebra
2x 1" Tiger Barb
4x 2-2.5" Common Plecos
I think that is all.

Also there is about 20-30 .25-.5" Convict free swimming fry from the days when I didnt know i had a male when I started this tank, I had them in a different tank and added them to this tank for food for the Oscar and Terror and anyone else who wants to eat them. However tomorrow or sometime this week I'm going to remove all the fry is possible to avoid potential toxins from the bio load, also the plecos can go into the grow tank.

Here is what I want to put in there. I was thinking about removing 2 of the regular Cons and possibly the Barbs if need be. The Oscar I can't take out its my GFs fish and she loves it. But open to input.
2x 1-1.5" Bolivian Rams (Currently in a grow tank)
1x 5" Hi Fin Red Leopard Pleco
2-3x 1.5-3" Cupid Cichlid (Remove the mating pair after they pair up my LFS is willing to buy them off me)
1-2x 1-1.5" German Blue Rams
1x 2.5-3" Electric Blue Jack Dempsey
The above is at my LFS so I know the sizes and what not. Except the Cupid's they are online order I cant find them anywhere else. Below is just my "wishlist" for now until I get experienced to buy some more "exotic" Cichlids.

Dragon's Blood Peacock
Peacock Bass
Geos or other Earth Eaters
"Texas Cichlid"
Other Rams
Red Terror
"Butterfly" Pleco

Thanks in advance. Also any reccomendations are a plus. The tank is currently in my GFs living room and her mom wants colorful fish. I don't care if the juvies are dull if the adults are thats cool.

David.

If it's a 150 you're probably already maxed out. I'd take out 3 of the 4 common plecs if you want to even consider adding anything else as they get to massive sizes and are more trouble on the bio load than they're worth. That being said, I wouldn't add another pleco (the hi sailfin) either. The rams would probably get eaten by the oscar when full grown, so I'd stay away from those too.

If it's a 150g then you're pretty stocked, however looking at your current stock...

1x 3" Tiger Oscar
1x 3" Green Terror
3x 2" Convicts (Female)
1x 3" Pink con (Female)
1x 2.5" Fire Mouth
1x 2" Jack Dempsy
1x 2" Jewel African
1x 1.5"-2" Ice Blue Kenyii African
1x 1.5"-2" Bumble Bee Zebra African
2x 1" Tiger Barb Oscar Food
4x 2-2.5" Common Plecos Monster poop machines

If you're looking for a SA/CA community then I'd get rid of the Africans, if you're looking for an African community then I'd get rid of the CA/SA cichlids.

Then looking at your proposed stock...

2x 1-1.5" Bolivian Rams Oscar Food
1x 5" Hi Fin Red Leopard Pleco Usually fish with high finnage doesn't work with cichilds.
2-3x 1.5-3" Cupid Cichlid Don't know this fish
1-2x 1-1.5" German Blue Rams Oscar Food
1x 2.5-3" Electric Blue Jack Dempsey Could potentially work

Now, how sure are you that you have nothing but female convicts? If it's the guy who sold you the tank and didn't know the difference between a 350 and 150 I'd be very skeptical. Convicts when they breed can cause chaos in the tank even to the largest of tank mates.

Holy Moley thats a lot of fish for a 150g. I have 3 fish in my 150g... and even with 2 large filters I have to do large water changes weekly to keep up with the bio load... and I only feed once every 3 days. Granted, my fish are huge in comparison, but your fish will grow fast. Way faster than you anticipate... especially that Oscar and the Plecos.

With that said, please do not add any more fish to that tank... as anything else will become fodder for the GT and Oscar. Even your Plecos will get evicerated if they arent armored (I learned that one the hard way) There is a slim chance that having that many fish in there with the agressive fish will calm them, but... all I can say is good luck and hope you have more tanks ready.

My oscar spent his entire life with tiger barbs, just make sure they grow up together. And get 5 tiger barbs to make a school, instead of just the two. They'll be happier.

I think otherwise your tank stock would work, but I would only keep one plecto in there.

Tiger Barbs + Oscar in a 150g are just feeders. Might work in a larger tank with a large school of barbs, but I have always tried to stay away from barbs as dithers because they can be horrible fin nippers.

Thanks everyone for your input. All the Plecos are gone and the two Africans are pulled into a different tank now. Also some Cons are gone other than the Pink Female and a reg female(I'm 100% positive they are both female I dont want anymore Con fry in there still got some swimming around that are there for feeders). I forgot to mention that the Africans were only in there for storage and their moved now. I would really love to make room for a Red Terror also aka Festea I believe idk though. Any recommendations?

David

EDIT: The Barbs are just there. If they get eaten.. then they get eaten. They always out swim the Oscar but the Oscar rarely goes for them.

I wanted to get an RT for my tank as well, but after doing some reading from people on here that own one, there is a good chance that after the RT matures he/she will be the only one left in the tank - that's why I have stayed away from buying one.

I am now dreaming about a 240 so I can have some RT goodness :)

My oscar was in a 30 gallon (as a baby) with tiger barbs, then moved to a 75 gallon with them. He mourned when they died. I got the oscar when he was still tiny, and the barbs had been in there for awhile. I guess that helped.
