Ok, I guess this will be the best place to post it.

I have 70 liter(close to 20gal) tank, now cycling. So at the first I thought about a little community, like 3 dwarf gouramis with some neons. Now, discovered that convicts doesn't need that much space, also saw some great images of yellow labs. I just can't decide, as this'll be my first aquarium.

I thought combinations like this:
Yellow lab and about 10 neons
1 Convict or maybe a pair
Also some apistos.

There are so much possibilities, but only 1 tank :nilly:

At my LFS there are some cichlids, but they haven't got any names, just cichlid, so I'll probably post some pics later, so you can ID them.http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16

Rams are real colorful but I'm unsure as to how big of a tank they'd need. I know they stay pretty small (compared to most Cichlids)

Rams get to 3", at most.

I have a 20 I'm growing out a GT in. once he grows into a larger tank, I'm kind of planning on doing a SA community, based around a couple rams. a few corys and hatchetfish to round it out.

either that or an invert tank based around a crawfish.

or maybe a mantis shrimp in a mini-reef.

hell, I got off topic!

i always like to pair up my convicts 1 male 1 female.....they breed like rabbits. oh yeah you might wanna throw in a pleco

common plecos would get too big for a 20. a zebra or rubbernose would be good, though.

Ok, went to LFS... As always, employees are useless. The only thing they know about fishes is that they're cichlid, that's all :( I guess it's the best that they haven't got so many of them.

Here are some pics.

Sorry for my crappy phone camera, also they weren't very cooperative :D

The first one is Labidochromis caeruleus, right? Other two I can't figure out, maybe you could help me out? I could give employees some info about them, so there would be much more information for beginners. Worker said, that the Electric Yellow Labido got beat up by that redish when they were in one tank, now they're in seperate. But, man, that redish is a big whoose when it's time for pics, everytime it went in it's cave or near filter to hide. I quite like labido, so would it be fine in my 20gal tank? And also, what could I keep with it? Maybe a pair would fit in 20gal? I just know that little fella deserves better place, he's in maybe 40 liter tank, maybe even smaller :(

Tank is cycling at the moment, but I guess I'll need to do some changes for labido, right? It would be the best to keep everything and add some decorations, but I guess I'll just have to remove driftwood and make there some kind of cave. Any other ideas?
Here's pic:

middle one is some type of African cichlid.

one on the right is a Black Convict.

you could keep the convict in the 20. If you get a male and a female, they will most likely breed. a 20 long (12"x30" footprint) would be better for a convict pair than a 20 high (12"x24" footprint). the 20 high would work, just wouldn't be ideal.

female cons generally have red around their belly areas, while males do not.

don't breed them though, unless you have a plan for the youngins
