Our large bar-back tank has been stored outside for a few years in a covered, but otherwise not regulated shed. It had about 3-5 inches of water in it this summer for an extended period of time before it was emptied and brought inside. My SO said she heard we might have to re-seal it because the cold will cause the current seals to crack.

Any truth to this?

Silicone can handle cold without problems. Extreme changes in cold and heat can cause it to weaken. Under normal use you can get quite a few years out of a single seal. With extremes you should replace it every couple of years. Before you test fill it, check the seams to see if they are still elastic.

Seems do have some "give" to them, they are still a little "slimy".
