I recently got a cheap 75 gallon, 4 foot tank, without a stand.

I went to my local university tag sale (selling off old furniture cheap) and got a 60"x30" desk with a wood top, and *heavy* metal body for $1.25. Moved it into my basement and used it for a small tank for a while, and tonight put the big tank on it.

2 Problems.

1. the desk is not level. It appears to slope about 1/4 inch over it's span.

2. the top is bowed down. In the middle of the tank there is about 1/8 gap from the bottom trim to the table top.

Is there any simple, cheap, and not-too ugly way to solve this? I don't want it to be too hideous as that is in the main room of my basement.

i had about a 1/4" gap on a 220 gallon and never had a problem...

my 220 was originally 3/4" not level ( did get it to be less than a 1/2") 90 gallon is about the same no problems

worst case build a stand i built the stand for my 90 out of 10 2x4s... stand looks good and it cost me like 20$ to build...

Makes me feel better about my 55 thats a half inch off level:nilly:Had to set it up in a hurry as I had about 15 fish in a 15 gallon  (the first 55 came home (brand new) With a crack i didnt notice til I heard the water....

try to level the desk. if the stand and tank are out of level, it puts more water pressure on the low side of the tank. the tanks are designed to have equal pressure all around. that being said, i have a very old house which makes it hard to perfectly level a stand so a couple of my tanks are a little out of whack and just fine.

as for the bow, i would use liquid leveler on the desk top. put a temporary frame around the desk and pour in the leveler. when it dries, take off the frame and the top will be flat. i personally would not want to trust a tank that is not supported in the center.

or build your own frame out of wood or metal.

good luck.
