Hello I currently have a very well established 100gal tank with one 8" male dovii and two small plecos.. I recently picked up a 170gal and want to take everything from the 100 and put it in the 170gal.. as in "seed" the tank bactieria wise water included.. The 100 currently has an built in overflow with alot of bio balls.. I will be running a big canister filter for the 170. Any advice to help me do this smoothly without potentially killing my fish would be appreciated thanks.

You will be fine just transfer the existing filter to the 170 along with the ornaments and if possible place a small portion of media from the exsisting filter in your new cannister filter also have your dechlorinator on hand and test kit.

The existing filter is a built in overflow so im just gonna take the bio balls out and maybe put them in a filter bag and just leave them in the tank for awhile until my new canister filter gets well established.. existing bioballs will also go in canister. I have a solid 2-1/2" of gravel that will be transfered and a couple pieces of bog wood and a few larger rocks.. im gonna do a water change a couole days before the transfer and all the water is going in too.. just have to add another 70gal of water. Thats my plan what do you think? Thanks for the reply.

also yes I have dechlorination chemical and testing stuff.. I might fill up a couple 55 gal garbage cans and treat and age the water for a few days.. also to get the water to at least room temp. Thanks again.

I personally would get all the fish out before disrupting the gravel other than that great plan
