Tank temps and sturgeon question.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's not really about max temp. They can take 80 with enough O2. But they need a seasonal fluctuation which you aren't going to achieve in a tank. Sturgeons are fish that can not be kept in hobbyist tanks, period.

I had 14 of my sturgeon 5 to 8 feet long in a mud pond about half the size of a football field and during the summer 6 feet deep. it is at 9 feet deep right now. they did fine all summer with just running 40cfm roots blower at night. pond temp got to 76 degrees and i could tell at that temperature they were starting to get a little bit stressed even with enough oxygen. My roots blower ran a 30 foot sparger tube down the middle of the pond and kept the circulation and aeration going very well.,
