Hey everyone, i just moved into a new apartment and noticed that my setup now seems to tilt forward a bit.

It is a 55 gallon on a wood stand upon carpeted floor, about 18cm from the wall.

The tilt forward is about a 1cm difference. is this something i should worry about? should i perhaps shim it a little? If its not a big deal then i will perhaps shim it at a later time when i can go out and get some proper wood to do so.

You'll want to put material under the stand to level it. Make sure the floor can take it, too. Don't put objects between the tank and stand, that could shatter the tank.

I would shim it under the stand legs on the floor if it's only a little bit. Otherwise you may see light show thru the tank/stand where you don't shim. Having it tilted a little bit isn't gonna make a difference, but it would bug me and I'd shim it to make it look perfect.

I've got a 55 gallon on a metal stand myself. I'd also put something under the feet to protect the carpet. Another rug, plywood under the legs, hard plastic. The metal stand legs can certainly damage a carpet with all the weight.

being that its berber im not entirely to worried about it. i shimmed it up a little and it seems to be working well.
