I have the usuall black trim at the top of my 125 tank. I am building a hood for it soon, Can I remove that trim or should I just leave it? I want to remove it because it has sand/salt in the cracks and I cant clean it as well as I would like too

It's better to leave it in place and build your hood/canopy to encompass the trim and hide its flaws. The trim will keep your canopy from chipping the glass. And, the trim will still maintain it's interior lid lip to help reduce any spill-over from fish splash or from tank maintenance splash.

Well that makes sense, I had a little voice telling me just to leave it alone, So I thought I would just ask MFK. Thanks

Did you just want to clean it or remove it completely? you can remove it to clean it otherwise - what oddball said.

If you want to replace it, your new top wood have to have that interior drip lip also.

Make sure you sent in pics of new top.

I wanted to remove it completly. I thoughts it sole purpose was to just hold a light strip/ top.

Once my top is and the rest of my stand is finished I will be sure to put up pictures.
