Hey you guys, so I have an opportunity to upgrade my 135g glass to a 180g acrylic show tank :naughty:. I am upgrading because I think the 180 will really give the width most of the types of fish I keep need. As you know I am currently keeping 12 WC Mobas in my 135 two males 10 females. This is my only tank running at the moment. Is there a way to safely switch tanks without loosing any of my prized mobas in the process? I was thinking putting them in individual buckets or storage bins while I do the switch. Taking down, moving, putting new tank into place, making sure water will be okay for the fronts. I don't know anyone who would be willing to hold my Mobas for me in the SD area while I do my upgrade (if you can let me know). My biggest concern is keeping most of my existing water to introduce to the new tank so I don't have to cycle. I will be using the same fluval fx5s on the 180. I would really hate to be forced to sell my Mobas if the best way is just no fish at all or there is a high possibility I will lose one. I just got the Mobas and totally forgot I was looking to replace this glass tank (stupid me):irked:. Any suggestions would be helpful in making my decision or if anyone could help me with my Mobas. Thanks!

Dont worry about keeping water, your primary concern should be keeping the bacteria in your filter alive. Buy the largest plastig boxes you can and put your filters and heaters on the box. Then once your new tank is up to temp use the drip method to acclimate your fish and filters to the new tank water. I've used this method plenty of times with my clown loaches with only one loss which I blame on inadequate aeration due to insufficient surface disturbance.

Oh alright awesome. So as long as the individual containers the frontosas will be in aerated they will be fine?

Yep, I agree with dragonfish70, keep the filter material wet. As long as you match ph and temp you should be fine. I usually use the new tank, to hold fish while I breakdown the old one. I transfer water from the old to the new. Move the fish and filters over. Breakdown the old tank. Setup the new stand etc. Transfer the fish and filters back to the old tank that's sitting there. Finish setting up the new tank, add new water. Then transfer the fish and filter to the new tank. Of course, this depends if you have the room to do this. I would also cover the tanks, the fronts are being held in, to keep the calm during the move. Again match water parameters and you'll be fine. It should only take a few hours at most to change out everything. Good luck
