just picked up a used 150 gallon tank. Not much of a size upgrade from my 125, but I figured that I might as well use the extra space since the tank was free

I see a lot of setup threads on here, step by step, so I thought it would be fun to do one too

Cant wait to see what it turns into! Good pickup

looks good
I would water test it first since it's free. Also what are you using for a canopy. ( you can actually make a pretty nice looking homemade one for about 20 dollars.

What are you putting in it ?

oh it holds water, i've seen it full many times lol. I got it from a friend who was moving to Calgary for work. Got his 18" Clownknife, 16" Florida Gar and 12" Ornate Polypterus too.

Ill be stocking it with those three fish, as well as another smaller florida gar, a smaller Ornate, a 16" TSN and a 14" Silver Aro

Ill probably just be using glass canopies for now. Id like to build a full wooden one, but that may look weird with the cast iron stand, which I plan on using just for the ease of filer access.
I plan on building a sump for this bad boy too.

Ill be hopefully working on the tank a bit tonight and tomorrow so Ill have some updates very soon.

i dont want to take this thread off topic, but im really intrested about your plans to build your own canopy so if you can pm me the plans i would appreciate it thanks and to the OP you got yourself an amazing deal, i often find myself digging through adds trying to find something good. over here we get idiots trying to sell 90g for $600 which i laugh at often.

started painting the back of the tank black, needs one more coat. I love that flat black finish painting the tank gives you, free of imperfections.

also built a shelf for the bottom of the tank which a plan on housing my fx5 and custom sump.

Im a sucker for nice looking filtration. thats why I love these cast iron stands.

I can actually see whats going on under my tank lol
