tank width?

Ello there, got a question!

So I seem to like long, slender fish like silver arowana, eels and snakehead. My new tank is 47'' long, 22'' tall and 12'' wide, 60 gal. Pet store guy said length is all that is important for an arowana, but I think the width is too. After all it needs to be able to turn quickly if startled without breaking glass!

*How wide should a tank be for say a 18'' fish?

*What is the max length/diameter of fish you guys suggest for my tank?


(this tank is my newest tank, can't upgrade for another 2 yrs now, so no grow-outs)

one and a half times the fish's length would do, better if wider.

If you're talking about foot print? atleast 72" long and atleast 30" wide.

(this tank is my newest tank, can't upgrade for another 2 yrs now, so no grow-outs)
