I want to get some tankmates for my 4" texas and 6" senegal. The tank is 45g.I was thinking about silver dollars or redhooks.I want something that will stay toward the top of the water column. They will be in this tank for about a year until I get a house. The tank is moderately planted(mostly plastic) with rockwork and some tall driftwood.Don't really care if they are )V(onster fish, just wat them to be interesting and would be nice if they were SA/CA.

Due to tank size and the aggressive nature of CA/SA cichlids your options will be very limited. Giant danios would add movement to the tank. These would work as great dither fish if you decided to get a few mellow cichlids.

Don't wanna add any more cichlids. The Texas is pretty mellow right now because I just took out a pair of breeding cons(50 fry disappeared in two days)and he was taking a beating 24/7.Angels are the only cichlid I can think of that stays off of the bottom and i'm not real crazy about that idea. Was thinking more about some kind of medium sized characin but all suggestions are welcome.

I had that exact combo. The tex was stubborn always picking fights so my RD beat the !@#$ out of it until it died. jack dempseys worck well
