Okay so a few weeks ago I bought a Senegal Bichir (bought him from petsmart) and put him in my 60g tank. I'm starting to suspect him of nipping the fins off my fish, so I'm gonna buy him a 55g soon and after cycling it will put him in there (after getting rid of the ich in the main tank.)

But the question is which fish are suitable tankmates for my Bichir? I already know it cant be anything with long fins such as my angelfish (poor guy is missing his top fin now.) I really like crazy exotic looking fish, which is why I got the Bichir in the first place.

So I was thinking a golden Dojo Loach or the Black Kulhi Loach instead of plecos because I heard Plecos will eat off the outer layer of algae on the Bichir. I would also like to get some kind of eel, freshwater pipefish, and a Dragon Goby. Just wondering if all these fish would get along with each other and have the same tank water requirements.

I keep a Dragon goby with my bichir they get along just fine the loaches could become dinner at some point. the whole pleco eating the slime coat thing is not really somthing to worry about with the bichir, and you might want to consider a little bit of a bigger tank later on but that is just my opion, welcome to MFK

I currently have 2 bichirs in my 90(not a forever home) they get along with my green terrors, 2 JD's Livingstonii big pleco and a snail ,

not I had too split up 1 GT and his buddy the livingstonii to a 55, the GT was almost hurrting everyone (not the bichirs oddly enough, my bichirs don't take crap from anyone ) ,

a reed fish would be a sweet addition if you want an eel like fish as long as you plan on upgrading tank size, they are a type of bichir. some places may have them marked as rope eels.
