So, I have a 50g tank with a blue acara and 4 tiger barbs (2 more will be added soon to round out the school), everyone gets along great and I was hoping to add some type of algae eater, but I'm unsure which species would work best. After some suggestions

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, wasn't sure where to post it

fancy plecos are always a nice addition but they can get expensive.

Best algae eater is Octocinlus, it's max size is 2 inches. Plecos are nice but they are on constant pooping and its might look annoy sometimes with a strain line of it....

Edit: Also, plecos well known that they will eat other food type rather than focusing eating algae :)

I'll have a look into an Otocinclus, thanks :) I think the starlight bristlenose look really good so I'm leaning that way if I can locate some

Otos are too small and will be eaten by the Acara in time. Stick with a Bristle nose they actualy eat algae. As with plecos of any type if well fed they do produce a good amount of waste.
