Tankmates for a Motoro

Are gars good tank mates for Motoro stingrays? I haven't seen much mention of them in these forums. If so, which kid would you recommend?

I've have them with mine and they do just fine. Gars seem to be pretty laid back.

Gars in my opinion are the best fish to keep with rays.

Gars are nice, or some type of larger characins. Also Geos work
well as they are not aggro towards the rays. Plus they provide an
extra benefit by sifting and cleaning the substrate, also by turning it over.

yeh ive got a spotted gar with mine, they generally keep out of each others way

i have had good successes with any mid to top water species that is at least half the size of the rays in the same tank. Any smaller and I have noticed them (not the rays) disappearing, usually overnight.
There always tends to be a rather large bulge on one of the rays the next morning....hmmmmm.

Ive seen this mix although i would be weary, and go for one of the smaller and mellower species.
