I'm picking up a new rd/midas today that will be temporarily housed in a 20 long until I move it into my 125 next friday. I'm in college so my tank is still at school. The tank is basically empty, besides a rafael cat. I was wondering what could be housed with it, it is a male. I do not have time and do not want to use up the whole tank on a pair of them. Thanks.

I should probably less broad. I would have the red devil as the centerpiece, but I'm looking for some oddballs that could go in there with him.. clown loaches.. silver dollars.. bichirs.. any opinions apreciated.

Silver dollars maybe , clown loaches too. I had a Red DEvil and the only thing he would get along with were Plecos, it was a 140 gallon tank.

Silver dollars get moving really fast when they are scared though mine freak out and swim way too fast just when I turn the lights on.

i would stick with some dithers maybe some larger tetras like congo, or columbians...and maybe a school of corydoras barbatus

cory cats will get bitten to pieces with a rd same goes for largish tetras and a cray will get eaten sooner or later, large silver dollars may be ok and some cichlids are ok as long as they are smaller than the rd anything big will be looked upon as a threat and eliminated from his territory,by the way i did see a foot long male rd in a public aquarium with a small school of pacu so there are possibilties just dont try oscars, pikes, severums etc these are too peaceful, hope this helps

by the way i forgot to mention put the rd in the tank last after the other fish are established

The best tankmate for a RD is ........................ Gravel. :D

barbatus corys max at like 6 inches....i dont think if u put them in at the same time they would get eaten
