tankmates for a small Giant Gourami?

Hey everyone, I'm relatively new to MFK. Can someone please suggest suitable tankmates for a small (6cm-8cm) Giant Gourami? I really want any species of bichir or a silver aro, but they are way too difficult and expensive to get here. Cheers.

Ive got a samll GG (4-5") With oscars, baysnooks, pearsei, metynnis, myleus texas etc...

Bay Snooks are pretty difficult to get, and Red Hooks are ultra expensive. Do you reckon that you could keep some small Uaru or Geophagus with a small GG?

i kept my GG wit small pbass , bala sharks, and oscars when it was 3" ... now its like 11"^^

Umm i can get them pretty easily and cheaply.

Over here, Bay Snooks are illegal to import as far as I know, so the only time you would ever see them in an LFS is when someone's fish breed, which isn't that commonly.

I keep mines with a pleco. Others keep theirs with gars.
