I am getting one and starting him off in a 6x4 pond. I understand they can be kept at room temperature or heated so the variety of tank mates could vary. Thinking koi and then keeping them all outside in a pond in the summer. Is this a good idea? If not out of anything what would you reccomend as tank mates.

not sure if they can handle colder temps.
but anything that cant be eaten and wont eat it should be fine.

They can handle down to 10C no problem, the breeder keeps them outside through winter. Just remember they are very slow growing and don't retreat from aggressive fish so nothing that is aggressive.
