.
just got an armatus, couple weeks ago..getting two more:nilly:

anyway, what would be some good tank mates? I allready have two barramundi growing out, and some geos..but i want a good bottow dweller(no plecos) please. I would ask for a top swimming fish, but it would probably get shanked:irked:
anyway, suggestions please.

thanks in advanced,

mine do good with rays and bichirs. i used to have an aro, but the aro was bigger then the armatus. my armatus has shanked an atf, aro's, pbass, gars, tats, etc. i have my baby armatus with a pbass and they are ok because they are the same strength. i would get rays, but im a ray lover too.

So far my armatus HATE my silver dollar (about 4" diamter) but hasnt even damaged it yet. He also hated my silver aro and punked him out all the time. The aro was 12" and he was just 4" :nilly:

So far he doesnt mind my 12" NTT and 12" Distichodus too much.

I wouldnt suggest putting two or more armatus together as it seems other people have had bad experiences with this.

i think an armatus might be ok with larger tankmates. still depends on the fish though.

oo ight.
well i know they hate silver fish.. as he punks my silver $'s, so i dont want anything shiny. I dont like arowanas anyway, so im not gunna get one..so i was thinking polys anyway. So what kind would you suggest? Or it doesnt matter? Also, what about my barramundi, think they will get along ok, or get shanked like everything else..:irked:

Actually Id be worried about the mundi eating the armatus. They grow FAST and have try to eat things that are actually too big for them. Not worth the risk IMO.

Rays, catfish, bichirs, large dats seem to be best.

my armatus is 9", my mundi are lucky to be an inch

I dont like dats, arows, and hate Pbass, rays..maybe if i get my bigger tank, polys yeah why not. I want more oddbal type stuff, you think a BGK would work out?

you're in cali if I remember right which makes rays a no no anyways.

You're barra won't eat the smaller fish as long as you feed everyday or chancing it at least every other day. But skip two days because of time/running out of food(even not so big barramundi can easily pack away 1/3lb shrimp a day) and fish start dissappearing.

BTW, barramundi get big and shiny(very shiny) and with a fish that don't like other shiny fish like armatus that may not be the best idea. Not to mention that barra will get bigger than any pbass or almost any ray so you're gonna need a large tank or a large frying pan anyways.

I have mine with a BGK without problems since they are the same size.. As soon as the Armatus gets bigger I'm sure he'll kill it. BGK grow slow....Armatus fast....

Good luck with the 3 Armatus........ You're gonna be kicking yourself for doing it as you stare at your 1 eyed Armatus cruisin around bumpin into stuff.

If someone gave me $ for 3 Armatus I'de buy ONE. And spend the rest on liquor and whores......probobly a lot safer bet than keeping 3 Armatus together WITHOUT serious reprocussions.
