Would a knife fish make a good tank mate for an arrowana or would it become a meal? Also would arrows get along with birchars?

John

Question cannot be answered in general terms. You need to give more info, such as fish size and species. Also what size tank is planned.

I don't have any tanks at the moment but I am wanting to do a large tank set up or maybe even an indoor pond. The birchars would be the albinos or the senegals and the knife would be a black clown knife. I am also debating on just keeping gars too at the moment.

those fish is what i have to live with silver aro, they r fine and i keep the arround the same since they r small, and i dont know nothing about gar and their nature

currently i have bichirs together with my silver and a ck. ck is 17" while silver is pushing 24". ck is nippy to the aro and they fight from time to time with the ck being the aggressor. but my bichirs are cool with everyone else.

my CK is about 6 inch long right now, the aro is about 9 1/2 inch, the CK seems to be the looser will come out of its hiding cave only when the aro is not near by.
buttom line they all respecting each other and no real harm done

my aro bugs my rays when ever he is bored. any fast movement made by a ray checked out instantly by my asian. If the ray spends more than a few seconds slapping water at the surface the aro will come and bump them down. It all really depends on thel aro, I was once told by a respected aro keeper. Some aros are calm enough to live with angelfish and others will kill anything in its tank. depends on the aro

What kind of arowana are you planning?

they should NEVER have problems with bichirs because they stay at the bottom, while aro's stay at the top, which is also why people find rays to be the "coolest"/best tankmates for aro's

hi there, just wanna share newbie opinion :D
great tankmates for american/asian aro :
bichirs, datnoids, gars, gourami, rays, parrots, loaches, plecos also knife fish can
as long you keep their size in check ...
