tankmates for dats?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
depends on sizes imo - pbass are terrorists when it comes to feeding and if your dats are smaller they may not get enough food unless you overfeed which leads to water quality issues

Yes, agree totally with lungfish.
Better of with silver dollars or tinfoils. Although they r also greedy but not like p bass.

Are there any other fish that comes from the dats natural habitat that are available in the hobby?

Good question. Not sure. I want to find out though. Guessing various catfish. Possibly Loaches share the same
Water.

Forgot to mention Archer fish are the best companions for tigers in my experience.

I've always felt that due to their appearance(almost like a saltwater fish)that most other aquarium fish do not really compliment the different types of dats and don't look like they belong in a tank with them....Unless in a growout situation,I've never kept much else with my dats.

Do u mean dats look like saltwater fish or archers look like saltwater fish ?

Cichlids don't look good with tigers.

Dats,it's almost as if they are in their own league....Archers would be a good companion I guess but I have never kept any of my dats in a brackish situation which is what I thought was a requirement for all of the archer fish.

True that most archers are brackish but some wonder into fresh water as well. The ones I bought ... The lfs said they were from fresh water.
They have grown from 4 to 7.5 inch in my tank.

Maybe they thrive in brackish, but mine are the biggest archers I have seen in the uk.

I think AT and NGT look brackish. The other 3 look very much FW fish.
