Hi everyone!
Have bought 2 florida/spotted gars (dunno which, both look same to me) about 5-6" in size. Which of the following tanks would be appropriate for them?
a 6x2x2 which houses -
10" x 2 Oscars
12" x 2 RTC's
10" x 2 TSN's

Or a 4x2x2 which has
14" silver arowana
2x8" black ghost knife fish

or a 3x2x2 which has
6" asian arowana
2x5" senegal bichirs

or else last option should I grow them out a bit in a 50G (3x1.5x1.5) tank before introducing them to a bigger tank?
Also what should be the decor for the tank? All my tanks are barebottom, so should I keep any pipes, driftwood or rocks of any kind?
thanks :)

Well tank # 1 ....Wouldn't the tsn and rtc eat them? I would say no.
tank # 2 sounds ok. as long as the arowana doesn't eat them.
tank # 3 sounds better.

start them out in the smaller tank. as they progress in size move them up to the next largest tank until they are in the largest tank. they will eventually need to be in there anyway.

smaller tank. If impossible, tank 2 is the way to go, imo

you are suppsed to start gar out in a smaller tank. then step the tank size up as they grow. it helps lessen the possibility of them injuring their spine.

Ok! thanks for the replies guys!
So will keep them in a seperate 3x1.5x1.5 for growing out.
About decor, what should i do?
also can the 6x2x2 serve as a final home for the gars?

they will eventually outgrow the 180. however they will be fine for quite some time.

gar like some cover but dont put things in the tank that he will hurt himself on. i avoid large rocks and rough objects. they tend to hit their nose on things. floating and planted cover works great w/ gar.
