Is it possible to add any fish in with a flowerhorn juvie? I would like to put in some bottom feeders, or an algae eater.

Anyone have any luck with anything

Thanks for the suggestions...

the tank sizes are:

1 female 3.5" - 55g
1 female 3.5" - 55g
1 female 5" - 55g with 1 parrot, 1 pingi pingi
1 male 2.5" - 50g hex

i've kept juvi. FH with other mid sized cics. (cons, jewels, GT's)eventually i have to move them when they get past the 6in. mark. cuz they grow alot faster then alot of other cichlids.

if you want some bottom feeders, I would suggest a Royal Pleco or even a Common Pleco of same size or larger. There are a lot of other plecos that fit the bill, but in the expensive side. These guys are armored-plated and no fish messes with them. As you FH gets older...remember he/she might try to eat anything that fits in its mouth..:irked:

Personally I wouldn't suggest any as all of your tanks will be too small for the fish. There may be room now but in 6 months all of those fish will be 6+". My flowerhorn is starting to look cramped in a 75gal.

I agree.

You can put docile bigger fish in, but in time they will grow and take away space of your flowerhorns. Those tank might seem too big for them now, but they grow pretty quick. If you feel it's a waste of space for just one small FH then put two in and divide them for now till they good for the 55gs..

But you you really want other fish in there, you can.. It will be some action in the begining, but the next day they'll be fine..

I have no problem with them being in their own tanks...I just was looking to have something to clean up the gravel of extra food, maybe clean the glass on the back wall, that sort of thing

Lol, I need working class fish

oh.

then yes you can. Need hiding places for them though because your fh will peck on them everyday.
