tankmates for ornate?

I think a ctenoma kingsleyae would be fine..
 
i have no clue how big they are. My ornate ate all rainbow fish and i guess even an half grown senegal. On the other hand he does not touch his ornate girl, who is roughly half his size. i'm really interested in those ctenoma.
 
I have a 6-8" ornate with my bush fish and they are fine. Its going to depend on how big a mouth your ornate has, if they are over 12" i really wouldn't trust them.
 
i think you would be better off with a larger bushfish like the leopard as these grow large enough not to be eaten,as i'm sure the kingslayei (prob spelt wrong!) only get 3-4" and the leopard 6-8" although they take a while to get this big,hope this helps
 
Dont keep any fish that would fit into their mouth... I used to have an ornate that seemed to be particularly carnivorous... he ate a arowana that was roughly he own lenth as well a few other fish.... he ended up dying while trying to eat the clown loach.. guess the loach has barbs on either side of head and it got stuck in his throat... I returned home from vacation to find a dead ornate with a dead clown loach stuck in his mouth... the relacement ornate I got, hasnt eaten anybody in the 2 years since... different personalities i guess.. good luck.
 
Like everyone else said, as long as they cant fit in his mouth it should be fine...
 
Not quite... beware these ornates will pick on the weak "even if they dont fit in their mouths"... Have a seperate tank for those injured fish or your Ornate will jack them up.
