Hey all, I have a 75 gal tank that I would like to put either one or 2 tiger oscars in, which would eventually move into a 150. I was wondering about tankmates. I would like to get a couple smaller species of catfish and maybe a larger cat too. Also was wondering if I could keep my senegal bichir in the 75 with the oscars til they grow out.

unless you are absolutely positive without a single doubt that you will be able to get the 150 then i would just stick with one O for now, its usually best to stick with just getting fish for the tanks you already have just in case something comes up and you aren't able to get the bigger tank in time it wont be an issue, but yeah senegal and a couple small cats like pictus or something should be fine, but they all grow a bit slower than Os so i would let them grow out a bit first and then get the smallest O possible and you should be fine, dont really know of any cats larger than pictus that stay small enough for a 75g

yea the 150 is for sure, but i completely agree with buying fish for what you have just in case. One "O" would be cool too. He could be the lone huge fish in the tank with some smaller faster tankmates that wont be "bite size" :)

A featherfin catfish should world great i had 2 with my oscars. They are awesome catfish and get big enough the o wont see him as a meal

I have four striped raphael catfish, one orinocodoras eigenmanni, one liosomadoras morrowi and one L200 in my 125g with one Oscar and it's rough keeping nitrates below 20ppm. I have to feed super lightly, so if you enjoy seeing your Oscar ralph things down (and who doesn't!) you might want to do the lone Oscar in the 75g. In a 150, though, you could do a lot more!

Hi. I am new to these forums. I was wondering what the required space in gallons was for an Oscar? I have 2 Green Severums in a 75 gallon and nothing else. Would there be enough space for an Oscar?

If you get rid of the severums, yes. One oscar can work in a 75g if it's the only fish in there. Or you could keep the severums and do a lot of water changes. And start your own thread, man! Welcome to MFK!

Def cant get rid of my severums. They were my first cichlids ever! I'm just thinking of putting in some silver dollars. Thanks for the quick reply!
