Just curious...should all Snakeheads be housed alone or are there some species that can be house with other fish. From the Giant Snakehead to the Dwarf Snakeheads?

I'm not sure about bigger species, but dwarf snakeheads can. I had my 7 inch channa gachua with a 3" jag cichlid and 4" texas cichlid. The gachua has been in with him since the jag was a small 2" in size. Also, the gachua cant chase the jag for its life. I've also housed a 7" bichir in with the gachua, they became friends, maybe because they look similiar in long tubular bodyshape? I think as long as it cant fit in its mouth and it can runaway fast enough, it should be ok, its your gamble. gl

I think there are many factors that allow you to house a channa with other species. Firstly depending on the species of channa. Secondly the size of the other fish being housed with the channa and lastly the size of the tank.

i've kept 3 species of snakehead gachua, melasoma and obscura and have kept them with alot of different fish such as oscars, africans, bichirs, aros, various cats, tinfoils, fire eel and indo dat they arn't all aggresive killers! Just eat anything that fits in their mouth like alot of other predators really:drool: :grinno:
