Been thinking of looking for new tankmates for my cats. Any suggestion what to get?? They are housed In a 5ft tank. Semi shorted Rtc and a marble highfin cat.

I hope you know that SB RTC will still need at least a 180+ gallon tank to itself. I assume the "marble hi fin" is an achara do it will also need a tank 3-4 times as wide as it's maxillery barbel span to avoid pimelodus syndrome. In a tank that size I'd just leave it to those two as a growout.

Very nice cats :D Am i wrong, or is there some RTC in the Marble Cat? Looks like a hybrid to me :)
180g for a shortbody RTC? The shortbody rtcs are supposed to get 18 - 24" so im thinking 180g would be to small, and he says semi shortbody, so im guessing it will still get maybe 3 feet?

Yeah in hindsight that's a bad recommendation. 180 is still pretty small, if the OP has plans for a large indoor pond then he's set.

short bodys still get 30 inch plus from my understanding but their bulk is almost equal to a regular 3-4ft rtc... still needs 1000g plus... anyway not meaning to derail as always with these threads....

no more tankmates, they will eat anything... im guessing being in your area you have an outdoor pond or are planning one? if so an alligator gar or tsn if you have enough room... big peacock bass might work even a very large silver aro.

I agree way to small of a tank for those two guys, as for a possible tank mate in the larger tank or pond Giant snakehead, I keep one with my 22" RTC, and will be one of the only tankmates in the 2000 gallon with the RTC, it's the only fish it doesn't bother and it's 6" right now.
