Hey so I’ve had my flowerhorn for 3 years now. He is probably around 4-5. Anyways as he is getting older he is more tolerant of other tank mates. He lives with 2 tinfoil barns and two small clown loaches and doesn’t pay attention to them. The flowerhorns happiness is my priority. Would it be ok to add a school of silver dollars to the tank? Any other suggestions on fish? I don’t want him to be stressed so if I’m told no more fish I’ll be perfectly fine. The tank is 150 gal with a large trickle sump. I am content on taking the barbs/loaches out.

You can try if he does not tries to eat them. Probably adding a school of parrots wud probably make him more active. I nver attempt to have tank mates for flowerhorns but parrots are usually the best because they usually dont fight back.

I agree I’ve never been able to keep fish with my flowerhorn but he is just the laziest fish I’ve ever seen . I might just breed him again. Either gonna go with a nice female or try a red devil because I loved that combo.

I have kept my 15cm Blue Malau with a 25cm Senegal Bichir.
When I am near the tank my FH nipped Bichir's body (no physical damage) but one-day Bichir got pissed and bit FH's fin off.
After that, I think Bichir learned that she is the Boss in the tank and started to bite more and hit the FH with her tail.
So I got a new tank for my FH :D
