I currently have two oscars, one rhino pleco and one three beacon pleco in a 55 gallon tank. I soon will be upgrading to a 150 gallon (I have the tank just waiting to move and set up the tank in the next few months). I've been thinking about getting a Bichir. Do you guys think that will be enough room for everyone? As far as decorations go I'll just have two decent sized pieces of wood, sand substrate, and some fake plants. If adding a Bichir isn't a good idea what other suggestions do you guys have? Thank you in advance for the help.

Out of any fish species in our hobby I think oscars and plecos are widely regarded as the ones which put most strain on our filtration systems. You have two of each. The oscars will max out around the 10-12" mark and the plecs around the 9-12" mark. That will be a fair bio load which will require a decent water change schedule. I'd leave it as it is to tell you the truth, unless you really like water changes!

Bioload is relevant to your setup. Maybe consider some denitrification steps in an attempt to increase stocking.

as long as you have adequate filtration and strict water change regime, i don't see what's the issue with adding a bichir

it will result in more bioload but i don''t see it as too much of an impact to your current bioload

i be more concerned on the compatibility of all 3 as a whole, which you will only know if you try.
