Hey guys, I've got a question. Could a large bichir, a florida gar, and a lima shovelnose catfish all be kept together? I just wanted to make sure so that I don't go out and do something I'll regret.:nilly:

I think so. They would need a large tank though

Thanks everyone. I think they're all around the same size at the moment, so now I just gotta work out the tank. Thanks again.

you would be fine with that mix, unless you have an unusually aggressive gar or lima. I kept a polypterus palmas for year and him and my much larger (18") spotted gar shared the same tight hiding spot. Also in the tank was a tiger shovelnose. Currently have P. senagalus senagalus with a TSN, spotted gar, royal clown knife, silver dat and a silver aro. Most fish tend to ignore polypterus and let them do their own thing, unless there is a significant size/temperment difference. Also, the tank would have to be quite large to accomodate the potential size and swimming habits of a fl. gar. Good Luck!

sure if it was a lower jaw species of polypterus or an ornate or mabye a weeksii but limas and gars arn't aggressive so if they were the same size then sure they could do fine
spotted gars won't get over 3 feet in aquariums but can if you have a tank thats thousands of gallons
