Possibly. For instance, theorectically, If one wanted to hide and could'nt it could get too stressed to eat...

yup, thats sort of things,
I have bare bottom tank, no hiding spots at all, and all my bichirs are still eating like pigs, so maybe the answer to my question is no, dunno what everybody else thing about this..
