i no its been asked b4 but just want to know if the tank i will be building is ok for my rtcxtsc, giraffe cat and giant gourami the tank size wil be 8x4x2.5 bout 600 gallon would it have to be bigger if so how much by?
You should be alright with that... although the RTCXTSN isn't really a fish that we know a whole lot about as far as the growth potential possiblities (there are some members with them over 40" and they arn't all THAT old yet... considering they grow for life ...it's not documented just how big is possible from these guys...so take that into account before building
Hi,
What's a rtcxtsc? A guy wants to sell me one along with an arowana I'm picking up from him and I've got no clue what it is. Apparently, google doesn't know either.
Red Tailed catfish bred with a tiger shovel nose. I've heard they have a bit of hybrid vigor, and grow much faster and larger than their parents, but I'm not sure if that's true.
tank is too small, needs to be at least 6'x12' x 30" for it to be happier you don't put a fish with the potential to grow 4-6 feet in a 4 foot wide tank, you need at least 2000+ gallons for it to house for life, and because it is a hybrid it may grow bigger.
RTCxTSN is the defining fish, being by far the largest. It is safe to assume it should reach 4' in ~10+ years and live for 20-30 years at least. So, if we are talking for life and a 4' catfish is a magnificent animal, I'd say the min I'd go with is a 20'x10' footprint or an ~15'-20' round pond. That's what I would do.
