Hello

Today I saw a C. micropeltes at a petstore. For only about 12$! I havent bought it yet, but im thinking of it... How big tank would such a monster need? Ive got a 130g (80x20x20"), would that work?

My guess would be at least 200.

I got rid off mine because he was to big for the 5x2x2 he was in the man that had him put him in a 12 foot I have done some research on this from other Channa owners and the norm for a large red is (6’ x 3’ x 2’) This fish can reach 90cm/36” or more, even in the aquarium, so they need spacious accommodation and excellent filtration. remember there crude gut and eating produces a huge amount of waste I had 2 filters running 1300l/h each these fish can eat mine would eat 4 feeders every day not a problem but I recommend fasting them every few days when they get to 2 ft this is for a 2 ft + fish a much smaller tank is ideal for growing on but once again good filtration even though air breathes and water quality is not such an issue they can get bad eye infections from poor water.

Ok..too bad. I will not be able to get a 3 foot wide tank in the nearest ten years so...

I also saw a arowana today. Would a silver work in my tank?

nope erik, fraid not, with micros and silvers you're looking at fish that can reach 36" in an aquarium. So you're going to need a tank at least 3 foot wide and over twice as long.

You could probably get away with a jardini, at least for a few years until it hit over 20 inches. Personally, I've never seen a jardini over 20" in captivity.
