I recently got hold of this pair crenicichla tapajos red. Male prob around 1' female little more then half the size of the male. Have to keep them separated right now until i got their finale home set up the way i want. The seller stated they have bred once at his place thats why the female was beat up.

Is there any tankmates that can be recommended to this psychotic pikes in their new home when im happy with it? Wanna have an schooling fish thats quite active.20190410_181531.jpg20190407_172111.jpg

10+ regular silver dollars are not big enough to be eaten but may make them more skittish.

Well my male is really skittish. The female is more relaxed but kind of darts forward small steps when looking for food. I have a group of 7 thinbars that im thinking of putting in the tank when finished. Still waiting on some more redmoore and manzanita to show up at my lfs. How are they in a well planted tank? Ive had in mind on maybe plant 1/3 of the tank with large swordplants and javafern.

Rocksor Rocksor do you know how to identify if male or female on this species?

Females get the white tripe in the dorsal fin.

Yup females like this female Tapajos 2 aka Cobra get white in the dorsal

Then it is a female and a male i have. I was worried i might have bought two males.

I would question the claim that they have bred before. There are no recorded breedings to date.
