Tapajos Reds

Their auctions have caught my eye before. But if you read it closely, they have to order the fish for you and it takes a couple of weeks to arrive.

The picture is the actual item or a similar one we have for auction. We charge a non-refundable flat shipping rate of $60.00 for DHL Express delivery. The fish we are selling at this time are wild caught in South America. Orders will take 2-4 weeks for processing. This delay is due to our acquiring the fish, inspecting them for health, and then processing them for your delivery. In the event of shipping delays or fish that are DOA, a refund will be issued. Refunds will not be issued for fish that arrive alive. We will request a return signature for the delivery. You must have the fish in your hands the following day after the mailing date to qualify for a refund in case they perish in the trip. Please read auction descriptions carefully, and contact us with any questions that you may have. All sales are final, with the above-mentioned exceptions. Payment is expected within 72 hours of auction ending. Please contact us via our AOL homepage listed below.

Me too. I tried working with them but they are very inflexible. Also, this is the third time they've run the auction and it gets more expensive with each relisting.

They are basically using your money to bankroll their fish purchases. You are prepaying for fish that they don't have to sell.

Interesting-sorry if I've presented a poor lead. Out of curiosity, what is the problem with them acting as middlemen who don't assume the initial financial risk? Is this bad fish-importer practice? Does it mean there basicaly selling something they don't know the quality of?

I think the problem is that if the seller does not have the money to buy the fish up front who is really taking the risk? If the entire shipment shows up dead who loses out? I doubt the seller as they didn't have the money in the first place. More than likely it is you the buyer that will get screwed out of the money.
