Have you tested your water?
Yes
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
Yes

Hi guys also posted this in eel section just wondering if you could help me with this one. I ve been moving my fish around recently for some upgrades and noticed some problems with my umbee and fire eel. Not in the same tank and not same problem by the way.
I seen a part of this worm a few months ago but thought it was the skin of the earthworms I’ve been feeding him perhaps passed out the other end.
But this one is massive so I assume it’s some sort of tapeworm.
My question is has anyone seen this or used any meds for this with fire eels as I know some meds can have bad side effects with scaless fish.

Looks like a cestode. Treat with praziquantel and repeat the dose.

kno4te kno4te thank you much appreciated, i was looking at at this praziquantel but wasn’t sure if it’s safe for fire eels.

It should be safe for most fish. Fire eels and relatives seem to be a bit sensitive. I’d dose half the amount and then the other half a few hours later.
