Hey guys, I'm considering picking up a tarpon from my LFS. I'm looking for an Atlantic tarpon, but these looked to be Indo Pacifics in my opinion. What do you guys think?

Is that with 100% certainty? They're selling for almost $200, is that a good deal?

Sorry for the exceptionally and uselessly late reply, but yes; that was 100% certainty.

What do people do once the tarpon get 6-8' long? Do they just release them?

They don't get as large when kept in pure fresh water. Very large anadromous specimens can be caught in pure fresh water for spawing purposes, but ones that live their whole lives in fresh tend to stay smaller. Populations of atlanticus that stay in pure fresh are exceptionally rare, but this phenomenon is well documented in cyprinoides.
