I just purchased a tarpon, I know how big they get, but anyone know what they eat? the basic info, like the temp. rite now hes in my 50 gal and in 2 weeks im moving him into my 125 gal, when he gets bigger then he will move in with the big boys in the 240 gal.

Hi, I have 3 tarpon right now and they are about 7". The only thing I can get them to eat is live feeders. Real small goldfish. I heard that you can get them on pellets and frozen foods, but this may take a long time. Try feeding yours live guppies right now, they should take them. Mine also took a couple of days to settle down and want to feed. How big are yours and can you post a pic? Good luck.
Ill post a pix within few days, hes going crazy rite now. its gonna be hard feeding him feeders since hes with a barramundi and a widebar danoid. I got him for really cheap at 8 inches. the lfs gave him to me cheap since they didnt want it.
My two eats Raw Market Shrimp, Tetra Bits , Freeze Dry Krill, and ofcourse goldfish.

weird. i havent got mines eating either. itll only eat feeders. and if it does eat shrimp itll spit it out.

That's what mine use to do, until he realized that was the only food being thrown in the tank. Once he realized that's the only food he'll be getting he jumped on the bandwagon =-)
Now I'm trying Beefheart, he still spits that out, just a matter of time...
Id feed it frozen herring or something it lives near. DEude get rid of it or get like a 500 gallon tank . Ive seen some in the wild that were maybe 9'. Good luck.
