Taste for fish slime?

Most plecos if not fed enough of the correct diet will adapt to find food wherever it's found.....as your pleco grows so does it's appetite do not assume they can live off scraps or some algae in your tank..they are not a clean up crew.:popcorn:


So to answer your question “yes “ they will develop a taste if they are hungry and that’s all that’s being offered.

I agree. i have always heard that plecos tend to go for fish slime, but i have never seen that. i have a common of about 9 inches. he never bothers any of my fish and that's probably because he's being fed properly. my pleco is a pig and i feed him accordingly. many people do asume that you can just allow a pleco to eat algae and scraps that get pass your other fish.
