Tatauaia o Armatus...?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, it's an armatus

looks like a tatauaia to me. The gold coloring is there, where for an armatus it would be silver.

why do you say armatus from the video? Just curious.. imo, the pictures give a much clearer view. the reason I say
tat is because it looks almost identical to the one I got a month or two ago.. and endless research to confirm the ID :nilly:

well this is what i picked up from the pics and video:
-gold tint to the body (like a tat)
-no white lineage at the very end of the caudal fin (armatus has this when mature)
-less vibrant orange at the adipose (questionable..?)
-redding at the tails
-face isn't as round as an armatus
-scombs and tats typically (not always) swims at an angle.. but I've never heard of armatus' swimming at an angle unless it was sick lol

do you own this fish now? If I'm mistaken about my guess, I'm sorry- just trying to help haha

I thought I got a pretty good idea of ID'ing them now but the tallies are against me =/ good luck though!
