Hi all, I was going through my old marine equipment and found my TDS meter, I was just wondering how many of you use them, (from previous threads I know you guys do!)

What kind of readings do you get within the tank and what readings do you get for your clean water going in, I can imagine this varies depending on location greatly.

Thanks

My tds comes out of the tap at ~100 ppm. I think my tank sits at about 150 ppm after a couple days of no water changes.

tap (well water) is 146 ppm, and the tank is 264 ppm.

^ Ah hah! Some real numbers!

Thanks for taking the time to share Jason!

You're welcome. I use a basic, inexpensive pen-type TDS meter. Not sure of its accuracy, but guessing it is good. When I was using an RO unit for my reef tank, this same meter would read around 4ppm for production water.
Interesting, the pH of my tap water is high (8.0 or slightly more) and fairly soft (both GH and KH). I figured the TDS would be lower?

Something's gotta be in there to have it up in the 8s...... TDS lower OR ph lower...

I'd have to check again but I think I'm around high 300s for TDS.

700-800 Microsiemmens.
