Along with my 55 gallon I have a 30 gallon that is currently housing 1 GPS (green spotted puffer), right now he is in full fresh water and will be slowly starting the brackish stage once my salt order arrives.
What is the best way to go about this? Slowly add in each week, every few days, etc. Also, should I take it the entire way to marine or leave it at brackish?

marineland biowheel power filter
No airstone at this moment, but the coral is equipped for one.

(i do have a salt measurement tool on the way...forget what they are called)

You don't want to raise the salinity quickly or you can kill off your BB. The general rule of thumb is not more than .002 in a week. They say that it is best to keep a GSP in brackish while young, but it is best to convert it to full marine as it matures. My GSP is about 2.5 inches(not including the tail) and I keep him at about .016 SG. When you are mixing salt always add salt to your water, and not water to salt. Also mix the water salt mix outside of your tank to avoid burning your little guy with undissolved salt. Good luck with your puffer, they are great fish.

I've been taking a plastic cup of cycled water out of my tank, stirring in a tablespoon of marine salt mix real good, and pouring it back into the tank every day.. it's a nice, slow acclimation that doesn't require all the extra equipment... I always check the SG first, though.
