Hmmm?
Hey,

I am thinking about getting a Retic. ray around 7" or so, and I want to keep a few datnoids with him.

Datnoids are pretty expensive and I'd rather buy some of the smaller ones, but not so small that they are ray food.

Would some 3" - 3.5" datnoids be too small? I know rays have pretty small mouthes, but I'd rather not risk $40 a fish.

Also dats grow pretty slow, so a larger retic would have to be able to live with 4" or so datnoids.

Reticulata aren't very aggressive rays, and I wouldn't worry about them eating the datnoids at all.. My group of Reticulata are housed with Black Skirts, Congo Tetras, Corydoras, and Curviceps cichlids.. no casualities.

Biggest issue will be the datnoids outgrowing the reticulata and eating all the food, making it very hard to feed the rays.

i kept smaller dats with a 9" motoro wth no problem.... that combo wont be a problem at all

Thanks for the input, I will probably be ordering a few dats with my retic, hopefully they dont compete for food too much

sounds like a good match. the only question is tank size

yea and if the dats eat too much of the food you can handfeed rays

135 or 75 I have not decided yet, have both tanks ATM.

Obviously not for life, the Dats would be NTT thin bars
