i recently purchaed a young teacup stingray and at the time of purchase was told strictly that they would do fine with all of my current fish like my small african chiclids, this was not true and the stingray has some little nibbles out of his around the back so i removed the chiclids and have added a stress coat to help him to regrow his fins. he seems to be okay and swimming around but he will not eat i set the food right in front of him but he just turns the other way and leaves. i have tried feeding him frozen bloodworms, krill, brine shrimp, raw cocktail shrimp, and live earthworms, and ghost shrimp. please help i dont know what else to do and dont want to loose him.

First off I would separate them IMMEDIATLEY.

He won't start eating until you remove the cause(s) of stress from his environment
(aka the cichlids)

Also do you test the water?

After you have separated him, keep the lights dim and offer blackworms.
It usually takes a few days for a newly acclimated ray to start eating so I would not be too worried as of yet.

If you can post some pictures of the ray so we can further identify him as well we can offer you more advice.

I think that you should crack open some books and get in some good, hearty research so you know exactly where you are going to be with this ray.
The stickys above this forum are a great starting place.

Congrats on the new catch!

Rays and africans is a no no!!!!

Like bella said, separate, keep it dark, and try different foods until it eats. Good Luck.

among other things, what PH do you have in the tank? african cichlids and fw amazon rays are at 2 ends of the ph scale

make sure the PH is acidic as well. if it is not on the acidic side below 6.8, get back to us here. Improper PH can stress out fish, and when they are stressed they tend to worry less about food

thats a retic ray.... they max out at about 18" disk size.... but they have HUGE tails recomended tank size would be a 180 for a couple years then upgrade to an 8x3x2 foot tank
