haha.. burglary charge.. I can see the hacking charge but how do you steal something that isn't real?

He stole something, vitual or real, that had monetary value. If I steal your identity, I have basically only stole the use of your SS number. If I did not steal the card itself, only the number, and I use it, what physically have I stolen.

Something of monetary value.

Nice case

If I paid money for my avatar from some website/designer and someone took it, is that stealing and applicable to the laws of burglary? That was my only point. I don't like theifs and I don't like people who even joke about stealing because it's disrespectful I just think at some point between real life and virtual life there is a line crossed where it's hacking/taking and charged for that but not really applicable to a burglary charge. It was just my question.

I have had my identity stolen btw, or at least people using my SS#

In essence it would not be burglary but theft, there is a difference,

I use to play 'Habbo Hotel' for roughly 2 years, and scamming is a major problem. I was scammed before, but quickly learnt that you should never tell someone your password. I had easily spent over $600 in pixelated furniture. It was incredibly addicting, but then I blurped out that I was underage (12, legal limit is 13) and resulted in a permanent ban.
