Hello all! This is my first post to this amazing site and looking at calling it home.

I've currently got all sorta of tanks from 5 gal dp tanks to a 55 gall. I've just decided to sell my 20, 36, and 55 for a 125 gallon. I recently acquired a beautiful albino long fin oscar and a nicely marked tiger 0. The 55 is not going to hold them much longer. They're only about 3 inches.

My main question here is how much filtration will a 125 need on top of a heavy canister with two oscars and some bottom dwelling friends. I currently have 2 55 gallon HOBs that I will add. Would this make for pretty clean water and flow? Also are canister filters more difficult to maintane? Thanks a bunch

on my 120 gal i have a Fluval FX5 and Eheim 2028 pro 2. this has worked out nicely for me. canister filters are not difficult to maintain, just make sure u have enough mechanical filtration and ur media is in the right order.

these things are all explained in the manual when u buy the filters, dont worry.

ur 2 55 gal HOBs wont cut it IMO... i would use them but maybe get a canister filter to supplement them..Fluvals and Eheims are great IMO >

Go with an FX5 or an Eheim Pro 3....Better to be over filtered lol...and you can use them if you decide to up grade again
