im thinking about getting 2 daemon to go along with my jurupari. i was wondering what their temperament is, i've ready they get about 12" or so. they would be with a severum, chocolate cichlid and h. psittacus.

Wow oddly enough I was thinking of getting two to add with my (what I once thought was a jurupari) lucostica also. Can't really help you out here but they do look good, pbass like coloring almost if you ask me.

From what I've read , care is similar to Jurupari and Leucosticta. Big frequent water changes are supposed to be very benificial to them cause they're supposed to be a bit on the sensitive side. I can't comment much further since I've never kept them .

I have never kept them due to all the information I've found on them says they are very delicate. Unlike jurupari which can do well in nuetral PH, daemons require a low PH around 4.5 to thrive. Most people cannot provide this and they generally seem to do poorly because of it.

I have had them with Jurapari in neutual water without any promblems. Mine were tank raised though. I would watch the Leucostica though as the ones I had were kind of rough on the dameons and Jurapari I had. Kind of like geophagus brasiliensis.

What size tank? I've never owned any but I believe they should be fine with enough space. As stated above, I would watch the jurapari and be careful of bloat. Sounds like a great tank!
