Tell Me About Snails

Ok so I purchased a snail from the LFS the other day to put in my tank. I know pretty much nothing about them and just wanted to get one for my tank.

I look in the tank a couple days later and there are now 2 snails in it. The snail i bought had a baby and have no idea how it happened or that it was pregnant.

Anyone have any useful info about this or anything about keeping snails?

What exact kind of snail is this?

And i couldn't find the baby when i was just now taking the pics.

I can't see it very well. Try taking pics of it resting on your hand outside the water. Looks like apple snail to me. Assuming it is, they lay eggs above the water surface and their eggs take 3-5 weeks to hatch.

Well an egg must have been in the water from the tank from the LFS cause the baby was in my tank like 3 days after i got it.

That's possible. Apple snail eggs will only die if submerged (except for two genera, Asolene and Marisa).
