Really thinking about getting one or 2. Can someone tell me what I have to do to keep them alive(I'm bad with polys one 11" senegal died and a 18" ornate died). This time I want to be prepared. Can anyone tell me all I need to know about this sp except for the feeding.
 
they're not compatible with big cats... can't compete, as well as the cats tend to get aggressive with them, and even a few too many exploratory 'bites' could kill a polypterus.

No big cats anymore.. Only cat I got a is a Speckled Bullhead and its like 3". Are they compatible with pbass, aros, hoplarchus psittacus(maybe selling it) and datnoids?
 
is300zx is right... the primer is an excellent starting point.

I don't know about pbass I've never kept them, but recently, a fellow MFKer had an arrow kill one of his dels.

the true parrot is very compatible. wish I could take it from you.

The care of one species of Polypterus is really the same for all except the size of the fish and the tank-Anne
